Each area page covers how rats and mice tend to get into lofts locally, what the council offers for pest control, and the places we cover nearby. Wherever you are, the clean-up itself is the same: the soiled insulation stripped out damp and double-bagged, the loft disinfected with Virkon S, the entry holes we find sealed, and new insulation laid to 270mm or deeper once the rodents have been dealt with.

Council Pest Control at a Glance
Getting the rats or mice treated comes first, and councils across the North West do very different things. This is what each council offers for rodents in homes:

|---|---|---|
| Manchester | Rats treated for a fixed fee covering up to three visits; mice inside the home also treated | 0161 234 4928 |
| Stockport | Rats and mice treated for a charge, with return visits included; Stockport Homes tenants can get rats treated free through their housing officer | Council website |
| Oldham | Rats and mice treated for a charge; one free treatment a year for residents on Council Tax Reduction | 0161 770 2244 |
| Bolton | Rats and mice treated free for homeowners and private tenants; housing association tenants go to their landlord | 01204 336553 |
| Liverpool | Rats and mice treated free for occupiers of individual homes | 0151 233 3001 |
| Warrington | A council pest control service for homes; check the council website for current charges | Council website |
| Halton (Runcorn and Widnes) | A basic rat treatment for a charge, free for residents on Council Tax Reduction | 0303 333 4300 |
Checked in October 2026. Councils change their services and charges, so check with yours before booking. Whatever the council offers, it treats the rodents; it doesn't strip out or replace soiled loft insulation, and that is the part we do.
Outside the North West
We cover the whole of the UK. The way it works is the same wherever you are: send a couple of photos from the loft hatch through the quote form, we come back with a written price, and the work is booked once the rats or mice have been dealt with. Removal-only clear-outs start from £699, with disinfection and new insulation priced on top. Read how a full rodent-damaged loft insulation removal works.

Coverage FAQs
Do you cover my area?
Yes. We are based in Cheshire and work across the whole of the UK. Most of our rodent clean-ups are in Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire.
Will the council clear the insulation after rats?
No. Council pest control treats the rats or mice, but it doesn't strip out or replace soiled loft insulation. Once the treatment is finished, we clear the loft, disinfect it and refill it.
How do I get a price if I am not in the North West?
The same way as everyone else: send a couple of photos from the loft hatch through the quote form, with the rough size of the loft, and we will come back with a written price.
